Clearly the most powerful lyric tragedy of Jean-Philippe Rameau, Castor et Pollux brings to the stage the violent and conflicting passions of four characters : Castor, Pollux, Phébé and Telaïre. Backed by the musical verve of the Concert d’Astrée, Barrie Kosky provides staging that is innovative and coursed with an energy pushed to the point of paroxysm.
Lyrical tragedy in five acts by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764), second version, of 1754. Libretto by Pierre-Joseph Bernard. Created the 11st of january 1754 at the Palais royal, Paris.
