Anything but a recital ! After Offenbach’s La Belle Helene or Poulenc’s La Voix humaine, this new collaboration between Felicity Lott and the stage director Laurent Pelly joyously explodes the codes of the classical concert, by proposing to us a sort of lyric UFO, midway between cabaret review and one-woman show.
With incongruous accessories, acrobatic positions, surprise guests and inimitable chic, she who was the unforgettable Grand Duchess of Gerosltein leads the charge in this campaign of song where Offenbach meets Benabar, Mireille, or the Americans Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers.
Airs from operas, musical comedies, Lieder, songs, anything goes. From young waif led astray to bitter old spinster, this most Francophile of British singers speaks to us of love in all its forms, in a big acting number that mixes the most refined elegance with the most unhinged fantasy. In such company, there can be no doubt that all this love will lead to plenty of tears … of laughter. Excerpts from operettas and musicals, melodies and songs.
