Choosing between passion and reason – that is the dilemma facing Orlando, whose forbidden love for Angelica soon turns to madness. On the heals of the Lille Opera’s highly successful production of Julius Ceasar in 2007, the team of Emmanuelle Haïm / David McVicar shows a side of Handel full of grace and fury, exalted by the charisma of the contralto Sonia Prina.
Opera in three acts by Georg Friedrich Haendel ( 1685-1759 ).
Libretto after Orlando furioso by Arioste. Created on 1733.
