In the words of the directing duo Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser, "Rather than being an opera for children, L’Enfant et les Sortilèges is an opera about
the Child, about those particular times buried in our most distant memories when a child, plunged into the darkness of a room (...), establishes a personal relationship with all the objects, plants and animals
around him". In this mischievous and moving tale, the poetry of Colette’s words echoes with the refined music of Ravel.
