Troubling and touching as Angelica in Orlando, grandiose as Agathe in Der Freischütz, Sophie Karthäuser is above all an exceptional Mozartian interpreter who has graced the stages of Aix-en-Provence, Berlin and Vienna. The rare purity of her soprano voice has moved the Lille public on more than one occasion, notably in her debut, when she interpreted the coquette Zerlina in Don Giovanni (2004), or the loving Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (2006) and, more recently, Creuse in Charpentier’s Medea (2012).

Sophie Karthäuser is one of the faithful artists who have marked the Lille Opera since its reopening 10 years ago. It is therefore a great joy to be able to celebrate this anniversary in her company and that of her accompanist Cédric Tiberghien. The duo opens with Lieder cycles from two major romantic figures (Clara and Robert Schumann), then a second half all lightness and finesse (Debussy, Honegger and Poulenc). It is also an opportunity for them to share the pleasure of a long-standing musical complicity around a repertoire of which they are particularly fond.
