The most beautiful pages for string quartet by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert will be the standard bearers for a special 10-year-anniversary celebration. Since the Lille Opera’s reopening in 2003, the string quartet has always held a privileged place of musical encounter, both by virtue of a particular affection for this genre and for the extraordinary adhesion of the public which have made for its success.
For the occasion, the string quartet takes centre stage for three exceptional days.
The Ébène, Jerusalem and Artis quartets join forces to celebrate the quintessence of their repertoire. Vienna is suddenly restored to us in all its past musical glory: from Haydn’s famous Sunrise to arrangements of favourite themes from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, not to mention young Beethoven’s opus 18 or the moving – and final – quartet n° 13 by Schubert. This grand shared moment of the chamber music repertoire will be completed by “Happy Days” showcasing the remarkable young talents from the quartet class at the Conservatoire de Lille.
