The ties between the Lille Opera and the Lille Conservatory are quite natural. It is essential for these two institutions to create strong relations between students, future professionals and their elders and to prepare new talents for the realities of the profession. It is also enriching for audiences of the Lille Opera to get to know these younger generations, whose freshness and energy— beyond their clear talent — are very precious.
The Professional Training Orchestra gathers students who are destined for the professional circuit and are at the end of their studies, providing them with the opportunity to become familiar with a broad repertoire.
This programme for strings is directed by Vincent Barthe, who conducts a number of orchestras in France, both in the symphonic and lyric repertoires. The brilliant young tenor Stanislas de Barbeyrac, recently graduated from the Atelier Lyrique d’Opera in Paris, interprets the soloist role.
In New York in 1939, perhaps influenced by the lights of the city, Britten composed his Illuminations, based on the poems of Rimbaud. With their hallucinogenic visions and strange apparitions, these texts are magnificently displayed through the sensitivity of the vocal line and the writing for strings.
Tchaikovsk’s Serenade for strings and Rossini’s Sonata for strings joyfully complete this demanding and varied programme.
