If the name of Beethoven immediately brings to mind his famous quartets, symphonies and works for piano, less is known about the composer’s lifelong interest in folk songs. This programme of mainly Irish, Welsh and Scottish tunes will reveal
the fantasy he explored in them. The originality of these folk songs stems from their accompaniment for piano, violin and cello, performed with spirit
and elegance by the Wanderer Trio, who are used to major international scenes.
