WORLD MUSIC
While we might, if pressed, be able to find Mongolia on a map, few could locate somewhere to the west of the Urals a place called Kalmykia. And fewer still would know about the unique musical traditions of these distant lands. Singer-bards, lute players, masters of diphthonic song and virtuosos of the morin khuur, – the horse-head fiddle – will bring to Lille the richly exotic winds that blow through their lands and their songs, a sonic universe as powerful as it is amazing.
