Proof that the creation of an opera is always rich in promising, new encounters and collaborations: for the premiere of Solaris last year, the English baritone Marcus Farnsworth discovered he shared a passion with the composer Daï Fujikura for the prophetic and mystical poetry of William Blake. The result is this programme, mixing the dark and intense Songs and Proverbs of Britten on texts by the most enlightened of Irish poets, Daï Fujikura’s cycle My Letter to the World based on William Blake and the moving poem of the same name by Emily Dickinson, and lastly Holst’s Vedic Hymns, a rare pearl inspired by Hindu mysticism.
