Unconventional, that’s certainly a characteristic that could be applied to Marie-Antoinette, the Austrian queen. This sovereign was a consummate musician, as at ease playing the harp as the keyboard, and was the beating heart of a bubbling musical salon, promoting encounters and exchanges between the artists of her time. Numerous works were dedicated to her honour, and she encouraged the musical creations not just of the iconic French composers of salon music of the second half of the 18th century but also those from her Bohemian homeland (Jan Ladislav, Sofia Dussek and Antonin Stepan). In homage to this 18th century spirit, the trio will also present a modern work, Eglog (2011), by Aurelien Dumont.
