Feel like taking some air with some beautiful arias? To reconcile the eternal city of Venice with the Venice of the North? Then join us on a trip to Bruges, where Jos Van Immerseel’s ensemble Anima Eterna will celebrate with panache its 30th anniversary, faithful to the principle behind its success: “Giving a classic masterpiece a complete check-up, stripping the dust and varnish, and using instruments that the composers themselves would have known and used – be they Gershwin or Mozart!” Viols and harpsichord will be front and centre for an evening devoted to Monteverdi, reuniting the epic Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, a madrigal composed for the carnival of Venice in 1624 (or 1626, the research is ongoing), and several of the most beautiful arias from L’Orfeo. A voyage into the baroque that we invite you to share with us.
