Created by Christian Rizzo, this performance is a reflection of the polymorphous artist himself, who is at the same time choreographer, artist, stylist and founder of a rock band. He invites the public on a voyage through all sections of the Opera, with presentations on the theme of the Double. Since 100% polyester, his now-cult installation (presented at the Opera in 2007) composed of two suspended and moving dresses, or the body of Soit le puits était profond… (presented at the Opera in 2006) transformed into mutant creatures, the double is one of the obsession motifs of his creations. For this occasion he gathers a few of his faithful friends and his loves, all united around the figure, the person and the incarnation… An evening in three acts: First act: your choice! Between the solo of I-Fang Lin choreographed by Christian Rizzo, or Catherine Baÿ and her Snow White multiplied to infinity, or the monologue of Didier Galas with his (H)arlequin, famous valet of western theatre and his fabricated stories. Seats are limited in each space, so please subscribe early for the performance of your choice. Second act for all, with And Then by Eszter Salamon. A Hungarian living in Berlin, her choreographies go beyond simple dance in each of her creations. For this performance, she has studied several of her homonyms throughout the world, and thus enters into the story of eight people who have nothing in common and whose existence is of no concern to the others: “Is it not strange and perhaps troubling to thus penetrate into the life of another person by the simple accident of running into the proof?” Written as a documentary, the witnesses follow each other onto the screen and on the stage, which contracts and unfolds into several luminous spaces. Two guest musicians conclude each of the two evenings: the pianist Sylvain Chauveau and his discrete electronic touch (Friday 6), and Christian Fennesz, guitarist and one of the big names of the electronic techno scene of the 1990s (Saturday 7). Christian Rizzo has been a permanent guest of the Opera since 2007. He has also been guest artist-professor for the entire 2008-2009 season at the Fresnoy, the National Studio of Contemporary Art in Tourcoing, which is collaborating with the Opera for this special event. The video installations of Oh Eun Lee, Maïder Fortune, Gregg Smith and Takako Yabuki, which can be visited during the intermissions, also deal with the theme of incarnation and disincarnation, of identity and transposition.
