The new production from director Alain Platel and composer Fabrizio Cassol has as its starting point Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The singers and musicians will be haunted by the nomadic spirit of the gypsy and oriental improvised music so dear to Cassol. With this new creation, the stage director of Ballets C. de la B. is continuing his desire to bring onto stage an interweaving of mysticism, religious sentiment, the subconscious and the body.
