Emmanuelle Haïm, surrounded by exceptional voices, once again seizes upon one of Handel’s major masterpieces. In two contrasting acts, the composer stages the dispute between Lucifer and the Angel over Christ seizing power over Hell. Mary of Cleophas, Mary Magdalene and St John, torn between affliction and the greatest joy, hope for Christ’s resurrection.
