For his benefactor, the Duchesse de Guise, Marc-Antoine Charpentier composed a number of miniature dramatic works such as Actéon and the chamber opera, La Descente d’Orphée aux enfers, written for 10 singers and instrumental ensemble. With the Concert d’Astrée, Emmanuelle Haïm continues her presentation at the Lille Opera of the body of work by one of the most important French composers of the 17th century.
