As comfortable with Monteverdi as with Mahler, the mezzo Bernarda Fink offers us a recital for two voices in a return to her roots with her brother Marcos. Born in Argentina to Slovenian parents, the brother and sister revisit the repertoire dearest to their hearts in a programme that mixes German Lied, Argentinian canciones and arrangements of popular Slovenian melodies.

Allow yourself to be seduced by the tender rhythmic swell of songs by Piazzolla and Guastavino, or discover the surprising originality of the Slovenian school at the start of the 20^th century, midway between nationalist affirmation and assimilation of the European tradition.

No ostentatious virtuosity here, no explosion of voices – the brother and sister instead opt for simplicity and emotion, and the sincerity of their approach touches us all the more deeply. With, as a bonus, this strange but pleasant feeling that, by attending this recital, we are now let into that close circle of family friends, that we too are allowed into that intimate home where everything breathes music.
